Choline from two different sources
Choline is an essential nutrient that resembles an amino acid but does not neatly fit into the category. It occurs in animal and plant products, with egg yolks being by far the best source of choline. The body uses choline as a raw material for various phospholipids (fats) and the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
Choline also fulfils the following functions:
- Support for homocysteine metabolism through conversion to betaine.
- Support for the cleansing function of the liver.
- Contributes to maintaining the structure of cell membranes through conversion to phospholipids.
